It depends on the object, actually. If the object is transparent or somewhat clear, the the light will end up refracting, or bending, through those clear objects. It can also bounce off objects, too. But, with some objects, the light can be blocked, or absorbed.

When light hits glass or any other transparent material, it pass though. Some light is reflected off the object whereas the rest passes through and is refracted. As light passes through air and into another clear material it changes speed, and light is both reflected and refracted by the glass.When the light runs into a sold object, it prevents from going through it.
