1.Mark is 6 feet tall and he weighs 250 lb. He plays football for the Loch Ness Nuggets. On Saturday evening, his team played the BigFoot Fanatics. It was a chilly 7 degrees Celsius that evening; the concession stand sold hot chocolate that was a very hot 43 C. Mark's mom and dad are in the stands to cheer for him! His mom is excited to see her son play, but she is also thrilled because today is her birthday, and she is 60 years old. The kick-off for the game started 10 minutes after 8:00 p. m. About 20 minutes into the game, Mark ran for a touchdown, but there was a 350-lb. linebacker on his tail! To avoid being tackled, Mark ran 3 yards to the right and then 8 yards toward the end zone. Oh no! Mark was tackled! When he hit the turf, the football popped out his hands and flew 8 feet up into the air. When the football landed, it ended up 4 feet to the right of where Mark still lay on the ground.

2. When you watch the Moon move across the sky, you notice that it appears to move from east to west; however, the
Moon actually orbits Earth from west to east. It only looks like it moves from east to west because the speed of
Earth's rotation is faster than the Moon's orbit around Earth. If you were in a space crleft hovering in the Moon's
atmosphere, the Moon would appear to orbit in its actual direction (west to east). Why would the apparent motion
of the Moon be different, depending on where the viewer is located?

One hazard of space travel is debris left by previous missions. there are several thousand masses large enough to detect by radar orbiting the earth, but there are far greater numbers of very small masses such as flakes of paint. calculate the force exerted by a 0.110 mg chip of paint that strikes a space shuttle window at a relative speed of 5.00 ✕ 103 m/s and sticks, given the collision lasts 6.00 ✕ 10-8 s. such a collision chipped the window of the ill-fated challenger in june 1983, causing $50,000 of damage.
