Las ocho ramas de la fisica se clasifican en:

Mecanica Clasica: Abarca todas las leyes de movimiento, cinematica y cinetica (origen del movimiento por medio de fuerzas externas), esta rama de la fisica fue sustentada por las tres leyes de Newton.Termodinamica: Esta raman abarca estudios de transferencia de calor entre fluidos y sustancias. Tiene tambien sus leyes caracteristicas.Mecanica de Fluidos: Estudia el comportamiento de diferentes fluidos, clasifica fluidos segun el tipo de flujo, turbulento o laminar. Es ampliamiente usuada en el diseño de turbomaquinaria y flujo de tuberias.Electromagnetismo: Estudia todo lo relacionado con campos magneticos, fuerzas electroestaticas, corrientes y diferencial de potencial o voltajes. Dentro de los pioneros en esta rama se encuentran Michael Faradey y las ecuaciones de Maxwell que llevaron las interpretaciones de Faradey a terminos fisicos y matematicos.Acustica: Estudia todo lo relacionado a las fuentes de sonido, frecuencias y amplitudes, como disipar y reducir una fuente de sonido.Optica: Estudia las propiedades de la luz y su interacción con la materia, además de su propagación y comportamiento, ya sea con luz visible, radiación ultravioleta o radiación infrarroja.

Fisica Moderna

A partir de los años 1900 se empezo a estudiar la luz y su velocidad y que pasaba o sucedia con los eventos que sucedian a la velocidad de la luz o aproximadamente igual a la velocidad de la luz.

Cosmologia: Estudia el universo, por medio de esta rama de la fisica se estudian los agujeros negros, las enormes distancias entre galaxias, auqnue su estudio se basa en teorias, es de las ramas mas facinantes de la fisica.Mecanica cuantica: También conocida como teoría cuántica, es una rama de la física moderna que describe la naturaleza de escalas muy pequeñas de nivel atómico y subatómico. Puede abarcar la fisica nuclear y atomica.
