There are following two activities which affect heart rate and respiratory rate.

1-Exercise

2-Hiking

when we are exercising or hiking our heart rate and respiratory rate affected. This is because during hiking and exercising our body may need three or four time your normal cardiac output. This is because our body consuming energy during the workout and our muscles needs more oxygen. To meet the need of energy and oxygen respiration rate become fast and heart rate also increase.
