A 16-pound weight is attached to a spring stretching it 1.28 feet. Assuming that a damping force equal to 5 times the instantaneous velocity acts on the system. 1. State the differential equation describing the motion of this spring/mass system.
2. Find the real-valued general solution of this DE of motion for this spring/mass system (with arbitrary constants).
3. If the weight is released 5 feet below the equilibrium position with an initial downward velocity of 2 ftsec, clearly write the initial conditions (including units).
4. Solve for the solution of the IVP, showing all work.
