A projectile of mass m1 moving with speed v1 in the +x direction strikes a stationary target of mass m2 head-on. The collision is elastic. a) Use the Momentum Principle and the Energy Principle to determine expressions for the final velocities of the projectile and target, making no approximations concerning the masses. b) See what your results to part (a) predict for the limiting cases of m1 >> m2 and m1 << m2. Do these predictions agree with the qualitative analysis?
