Two carts with magnets attached, make up a system. The mass of one cart and the magnet is 1kg and the mass of the other cart and magnet is 5 kg. They are initially at rest on a frictionless track and then are released causing the two magnets to repel one another. Each is given an initial speed of 0.5 m/s. Once the carts are separated, the space between them is large enough to make the magnetic forces negligible. The track is slanted such that one side is slightly lower than the other.
