A ski that is placed on snow will stick to the snow. However, when the ski is moved along the snow, the rubbing warms and partially melts the snow, reducing the coefficient of kinetic friction and promoting sliding. Waxing the ski makes it water repellent and reduces friction with the resulting layer of water. A magazine reports that a new type of plastic ski is especially water repellent and that, on a gentle 220 m slope in the Alps, a skier reduced his top-to-bottom time from 61.0 s with standard skis to 43.0 s with the new skis. Determine the magnitude of his average acceleration with (a) the standard skis and (b) the new skis. Assuming a 3.40° slope, compute the coefficient of kinetic friction for (c) the standard skis and (d) the new skis.

Aprojectile is launched from ground level with an initial velocity of v 0 feet per second. neglecting air resistance, its height in feet t seconds after launch is given by s equals negative 16 t squared plus v 0 t. find the time(s) that the projectile will (a) reach a height of 192 ft and (b) return to the ground when v 0equals112 feet per second. (a) find the time(s) that the projectile will reach a height of 192 ft when v 0equals112 feet per second. select the correct choice below and, if necessary, fill in the answer box to complete your choice.
