Assume that we have a crystal with SC structure with no basis atoms (each atom sits at the Bravais lattice point). The lattice constant is ‘a’. Assume that the crystal is aligned so that each side of the cube is parallel to each of Cartesian Coordinate x, y, and z. Assume an incoming X-ray in a direction of (1,0, -1) with wavelength of (a/sqrt (2)). (a) Construct Ewald sphere. (b) For the reciprocal vectors which fall on the Ewald sphere, represent them in the Cartesian Coordinates. (c) For each of the reciprocal vector on the Ewald sphere, there exist a family of lattice planes. Calculate the spacing of the family of lattice planes for each corresponding reciprocal lattice vector. (d) For each reciprocal vector in (b), represent the direction of the outcoming wave. Calculate the angle between incoming and outcoming waves for each constructive interference.

Acommercial refrigerator with refrigerant-134a as the working fluid is used to keep the refrigerated space at -35°c by rejecting waste heat to cooling water that enters the condenser at 18°c at a rate of 0.25 kg/s and leaves at 26°c. the refrigerant enters the condenser at 1.2 mpa and 50°c. if the compressor consumes 3.3 kw of power, determine (a) the mass flow rate of the refrigerant, (b) the refrigeration load, (c) the cop, and (d) the minimum power input to the compressor for the same refrigeration load.

Students in an introductory physics lab are performing an experiment with a parallel-plate capacitor made of two circular aluminum plates, each 11 cm in diameter, separated by 1.0 cm. how much charge can be added to each of the plates before a spark jumps between the two plates? for such flat electrodes, assume that value of 3×106n/c of the field causes a spark.
