How do you recognize when capacitors are connected in series?

A junction is a point where the wire circuit into two or more branches or branches recombine.
(a.)They are connected one after the next without any junctions between. The capacitors are connected so the negative plate of one capacitor is connected to the positive plate of the next.
(b.)They are connected so the positive plates of the capacitors are connected together and the negative plates of the capacitors are connected together.
(c.)The capacitors consist of two identical plates which are arranged parallel to each other with a small gap in between.
(d.)As long as there are junction(s) between each capacitor.

An insulated thermos contains 148 g of water at 72.7 ˚c. you put in a 11.7 g ice cube at 0.00 ˚c to form a system of ice + original water. the specific heat of liquid water is 4190 j/kg•k; and the heat of fusion of water is 333 kj/kg. what is the net entropy change of the system from then until the system reaches the final (equilibrium) temperature?

The starship enterprise is caught in a time warp and spock is forced to use the primitive techniques of the 20th century to determine the specific heat capacity of an unknown mineral. the 125-g sample was heated to 96.3°c and placed into a calorimeter containing 85.9 g of water at 20.0°c. the heat capacity of the calorimeter was 14.2 j/k. the final temperature in the calorimeter was 24.5°c. what is the specific heat capacity (in j/g°c) of the mineral? enter to 4 decimal places.
