The earth is 1.5 x 1011 m from the sun and takes a year to make one complete orbit. it rotates on its own axis once per day. it can be treated approximately as a uniform-density sphere of mass 6 x 1024 kg and radius 6.4 x 106 m (actually, its center has higher density than the rest of the planet, and the earth bulges out a bit at the equator). using this crude approximation, calculate the following. (a) what is vcm? m/s (b) what is ktrans? (c) what is w, the angular speed of rotation round its own axis? rad/s (d) what is krot? (e) what is ktot?

Light from the sun reaches the earth in 8.3 minutes. the velocity is 3.00 x 10^8 m/s. how far is earth from the sun? i know how to get to d = (3 x 10^8 m/s)(498 sec). i just don't know how to get from there to the answer being 1.5 x 10^11 m.

Photoelectrons with a maximum speed of 6.50 x 107 m/s are ejected from a surface in the presence of light with a frequency of 6.75 x 1014hz. if the mass of an electron is 9.10 x 10-31 kg, calculate in joules the maximum kinetic energy of a single electron. 3.84 x 10-15 j 1.92 x 10-15 j 5.92 x 10-23 j 3.07 x 10-16 j
