Distinguish between the ground state and an excited state of an atom

Ground state:                                                                                                      

          This is the state of low energy or we can say that when atom is in ground state then it have lowest energy among the all other states.

Excited state :      

          This is the state of high energy level or we can say that when atom is in excited state then it have high energy then ground level state.

The all atoms exits either in ground state or in exited state.
