Saturn's main rings are 410,000 km wide and at most 1 km thick. an electric field of 900 n c-1 is detected near them, assume this field is due to the rings carrying a uniform charge density. since the rings have a small thickness in comparison to their width, we will treat the rings as effectively being an infinite plane of charge. (a) state any limitations on our model (i. e. state if there are any problems with the claim that we can treat the rings as an infinite plane). (b) use gauss's law to find an expression for the electric field just above the rings in terms of a surface charge deqsity. be sure to carefully show your application of gauss's law. (c) calculate the surface charge density of the rings (d) if the charge density represents the density of electrons, in which direction is the electric field near the rings?
