You may have noticed that some object feel warmer and other objects feel cooler under the same conditions. you might be more aware of this in a cold room, where a metal object will feel cooler than a plush sofa cushion. you might notice it in a car that has been sitting out in the car, where a cloth seat will not feel as hot as a vinyl-covered steering wheel. in both these cases, the two objects that feel different have the same temperature. how can this be? as you work through this module, especially the content for chapter 5, think about which concepts are important for answering this question. in your first post of this discussion, answer this question as best as possible using physics terms.

Copper has free electrons per cubic meter. a 71.0-cm length of 12-gauge copper wire that is 2.05 mm in diameter carries 4.85 a of current. (a) how much time does it take for an electron to travel the length of the wire? (b) repeat part (a) for 6-gauge copper wire (diameter 4.12 mm) of the same length that carries the same current. (c) generally speaking, how does changing the diameter of a wire that carries a given amount of current affect the drift velocity of the electrons in the wire?

Moon effect. some people believe that the moon controls their activities. if the moon moves from being directly on the opposite side of earth from you to being directly overhead, by what percentage does (a) the moon's gravitational pull on you increase and (b) your weight (as measured on a scale) decrease? assume that the earth–moon (center-to-center) distance is 3.82 × 10^8 m, earth's radius is 6.37 × 10^6 m, moon's mass is 7.36 × 10^22 kg, and earth's mass is 5.98 × 10^24 kg.
