1. The chemical engineers must perform affirmative duties, otherwise the chemical engineers and their firms may be held civilly or criminally liable.

2. The chemical company must communicate with environmental law professionals to know about environmental laws and regulations.

3. The chemical company must understand environmental laws and regulations  to allow the chemical engineers to lobby for more effective laws and regulations in the future.
