What is an adaptation? why must organisms adapt? why are there different adaptations?

Adaptation is a way to make a place suitable for living. Organism have to adapt otherwise it would be nearly impossible to live under the conditions that you aren't used to. There are different adaptations depending on the situations

1. Adaptation refers to the changes that occur in an organism to survive in the adverse environmental conditions. These changes includes structural, physiological, behavioral and genetic changes.  

2. The organisms must adapt to bring changes in them so that they can survive in adverse environmental conditions such as scarcity of food, mates and other.

3. The adaptations are different because it avails organism to perform distinct functions such as long neck of giraffe is a structural adaptation to acquire food and release of toxins by the plants to prevent the grazing of the animals is the physiological adaptation.
