Astronomers use a wide variety of technology to explore space and the electromagnetic spectrum; why do you believe it is essential to use many types of equipment when studying space?

Universe contains billions and billions of stars, galaxies, planets, asteroids, comets and many more different type of bodies. These objects emit radiations of varied frequency. In order to study these different kind of objects, different kind of technology is required. There are different type of missions: some contain probes which land on the surface, some orbit the bodies etc. These are for solar system. Yet some are space observatories having detectors to study light from distant objects. Further, there are different detectors for different wavelengths of electromagnetic spectrum.

The technology uses devices and concepts related to optics,  spectroscopy, communication . biotechnology etc in order to study the cosmos, by the astronomers .

Explanation:

To land on the planets like Mars or on to the moon, space shuttles are used. Basic laws of motion are technologically applied for the landing of a space shuttle. Optical instruments are used to record and take photos of various regions and communication technology is widely and efficiently applied to transfer the data back to earth, from the devices used. Spectrometer is used to study and analyse the light . Biological study is necessary to understand the possibility of life beyond the earth. Like this , in all its aspects, astronomers apply the principles and concepts via technology as well to study the universe and also the various planets, stars , atmosphere beyond the earth.
