Un joven de 12 años se acerca al servicio en compañía de su madre, durante el momento de la consulta individual (en donde se le ha pedido a la madre que espere afuera del consultorio), le
comenta a la profesional que está “viendo” a un chico de su misma edad y por eso le pregunta
sobre relaciones seguras. La profesional debe darle la información requerida y toda la que
considere pertinente, de forma neutra sin juzgar, asegurándose de que sea comprendida. Es
importante remarcar que si quiere empezar su vida sexual que lo haga de forma voluntaria y
segura. Se debe proporcionar preservativos e información con la posibilidad de profundizar la
información en una consejería posterior. De igual forma debe preguntarle si quiere compartir
algo de lo dicho en la consulta con su madre o con algún referente de confianza dado que
por su edad puede estar expuesto a violencias. En nuestro ejemplo, el chico se niega,
explicándole que la madre no lo comprendería. La profesional podría aclarar que queda a
disposición para acompañarlo a hablar con su familia o algún otro referente de confianza. El
adolescente expresa que volverá para hablar sobre esa posibilidad en la próxima consulta. Al
finalizar la madre le pregunta a la profesional detalles de lo conversado con el joven al descubrir
los preservativos que le ha dado. La profesional de la salud le dice a la madre que lo hablado
en la consulta es privado y que no puede revelar información dada en la consulta por su
obligación de guardar el secreto profesional. Esto podría acarrear consecuencias profesionales
y sanciones de distinta naturaleza, no obstante puede aclararle a la madre que en el caso de
detectar alguna situación de riesgo grave para la vida buscará la estrategia para
comunicárselo. También es necesario recordar que la responsabilidad de los tutores no puede
ejercerse en contra de los derechos de NNyA, por tanto la vulneración de la confidencialidad de
las consultas, especialmente las relacionadas con la sexualidad, no puede ser solicitado por
progenitores u otras personas responsables del cuidado de NNyA. Sin embargo, la profesional,
puede explicarle a la madre que el acceso a preservativos no ha mostrado una relación de
causalidad con el inicio de las relaciones sexuales.
