Progesterone is secreted by corpus luteum which is  a steroid hormone responsible for deciduo city of endometrium & its maintenance. Another hormone is also secreted which is known as relaxin, a hormone responsible for pubic symphysis softening which helps in parturition.HCG is produced by the chorionic layer of implanted fertilized egg signals the corpus luteum for the continuation of progesterone secretion. Corpus luteum also continues to produce estrogen and progesterone during the pregnancy. It also produce inhibin A and estradiol.
