Explanation:

The liver is the largest gland of the human body which produces bile. The bile flows directly into the duodenum of the small intestine from the liver during a meal.

But when we are not eating food, bile the liver moves into the gallbladder, present underneath liver. The bile gets concentrated and stored in the gallbladder. It stores about 30 to 80 millilitres of bile out of about 800 to 1,000 millilitres produced every day by the hepatic cells of the liver.

On eating fatty foods, the gallbladder contracts and pour bile through the bile duct. The bile is mainly made of bile salts and bile pigments.

Bile salts break down larger fat globules in food into small droplets of fat. This process is called emulsification. Smaller fat droplets are then digested easily by the enzyme lipase.
