Pancreas act both as an endocrine gland and exocrine gland. Pancreas produce enzymes like trypsin, chymotrypsin and amylase. These enzymes are important for the digestion of food.

The acinar cells of the pancreas produce the enzymes where as epithelial cells are involved in the production of bicarbonate ions. The pancreatic juice is released into small intestine by the pancreatic duct. The bile duct joins with the pancreatic duct through ampulla of Vater.
