In this problem the amount of kilograms you want to fit ( lets call it x ) has a direct variation with the amount of kg of soil it can fit in ( lets cal it y )

If 2/5x = 1/3y
Now we just need to isolate x or y to discover the proportion that relates them :

You can isolate x by multiplying both sides of the equation by 5/2
2/5x(5/2) = 1/3y(5/2)
x = 5/6 y
So what that means is that 1 kg of soil takes 5/6 of the container!
