Question 25 the perimeter of a rectangular painting is 364 centimeters. if the length of the painting is 96 centimeters, what is its width?

Problem :   To find the width of a rectangular painting ; Given :  The length of the rectangular painting = 96 cms.(L) --- 1  The perimeter of the rectangular painting = 364 cms(P) ---2 Formula of the perimeter of a rectangle :  P = 2 ( L + B) 3 where P =perimeter of the rectangle  L = length of the rectangle  B = breadth of the rectangle Solution : 
Substituting the value of 1 and 2 in formula 3, we get,
  364cm =2 (96 cm + B) ; 
 ie 2(96cms +B) = 364 cm ;
  solving we get, 96cms +B = (364/2)cms =182 cms;
  B = 182 cms - 96cms = 86 cms
 Ans :-
  Therefore the breadth of the rectangular painting is 86cms.
