Base= 8 x 8 = 64
Face 1= 8 x 8 = 64
Face 2= 9 x 8 = 72
Face 3= 12 x 8 = 96

For the sides, split the shape into 2: a square and a triangle and calculate separately, then add them up.

Side 1= 8 x 4 = 64
            12-8 = 4
            4 x 8 = 32
Repeat once more then add up all the results

SA= 32 + 32 + 64 + 64 + 64 + 64 + 72 + 96
     = 488
