Since we are looking for a three-digit number, therefore, our number will occupy the ones, tens and hundreds position.

There are several 3-digit numbers that could be formed from the numbers 2,9 and 4.
Some of these numbers are:
249 : the 2 will be written in the hundreds column, the 4 in the tens column and the 9 in the ones column.
492 : the 4 will be written in the hundreds column, the 9 in the tens column and the 2 in the ones column.
924 : the 9 will be written in the hundreds column, the 2 in the tens column and the 4 in the ones column.
