You just paid your college tuition bill for the spring semester so you are low on cash. The next day you receive your monthly phone bill in the mail and you need a few weeks before you can have the money to pay the bill. Your friend advises you to wait two weeks, call the phone company, and tell them you sent a check in the mail with the copy of the bill but you notice the check has not yet cleared your bank. You could suggest to the phone company that they lost your check and you could ask them to send you a new bill. This would buy you some time, and may help you avoid paying a late fee since you plan to pay your bill anyway. What would you do?
