1. You have a well trained athlete (although not specifically a track athlete) come to the lab to perform a Wingate anaerobic test (WAnT). The subject is a 24-year-old male. He is 89.2kg, and 1.85m tall. His Resting HR is 47bpm, and his BMI is ~26. The participant does a warm-up on the cycle ergometer to prepare for the test. You are getting the weights ready to be applied to the flywheel. How much resistance will you use (in kg)? How did you calculate it?
2. After the warm-up the participant performs the WAnT. You don't have equipment to automatically track power output, therefore, you count revolutions for each 5 second period of the test. The results are as follows:

The power output can now be computed for each 5 second period using the following equation:

3. While it is nice to look at the different power outputs over time, we would like to know the mean power output as well as the peak power output. The peak power output is simply thigh highest power output achieved during the WAnT. The mean power output can be calculated by either averaging each of the power outputs for all measure dtimepoints, OR using the following equation: kg of resistance x (average number of RPMs across timepoints) x 11.765.Give the Peak power and Mean power outputs for this individual.
4. Finally, we want to understand how quickly this individual's anaerobic systems fatigue. To do this, we can calculate a Fatigue index based on the power output over time. The fatigue index is equal to the difference between the highest and lowest power output divided by the highest power output. ie, (peak power-min power)/Peak power. What Fatigue index would we calculate for our subject?
