You and your next-door neighbor's homes are connected by a 2.5 meter long extended clothesline (a string that hangs between two buildings used to place clothing on) with each side ending on your homes, specifically your bedroom windows. Your friend thinks it would be interesting to use the clothesline as a way of transporting things from his room to your room. So, he tries an experiment where he attaches a shirt on the rope 0.2 meters from his window. Then, he disturbs the rope so that a transverse pulse is generated along the rope that travels along the entire rope. The wave pulse travels for 3 seconds before reaching your bedroom window. a. Make a labeled sketch of the rope at some point while the disturbance is passing through the shirt's position.
b. Will his plan be successful in getting the shirt from its position to your bedroom window? Explain.
c. How fast is the wave pulse traveling? SHOW ALL WORK.

There are two major tests of readiness for college: the act and the sat. act scores are reported on a scale from 1 to 36. the distribution of act scores in recent years has been roughly normal with mean µ = 20.9 and standard deviation s = 4.8. sat scores are reported on a scale from 400 to 1600. sat scores have been roughly normal with mean µ = 1026 and standard deviation s = 209. reports on a student's act or sat usually give the percentile as well as the actual score. the percentile is just the cumulative proportion stated as a percent: the percent of all scores that were lower than this one. tanya scores 1260 on the sat. what is her percentile (± 1)?
