What is x^2+7x+6÷x+1?

to simplify, make them all fractions with the deonmenator (bottom number) x
x^2 times x/x=(x^3)/x
7x times x/x=(7x^2)/x
6/x=6/x
1 times x/x=x/x
so
((x^3)/x)+((7x^2)/x)+(6/x)+(x/x)=(x^3+7x^2+6+x)/x

You can find the area of a rectangle by multiplying the length and height. so multiply 1/2*7/4(which is the simpler version of 1 3/4) and you get 7/8 as your answer.
