If the lake is 60 miles away, and jim is driving at 40 miles per hour the entire time, how long will it take her to get to the lake?

I want you to memorize one equation ... which I'm about to give you.
Using this equation, you can solve all speed, distance, and time problems.
ALL of them. 

And I'll even give you a mnemonic ... an easy thing to remember that helps
you remember something that's harder to remember.

The name of the equation I'm about to give you is:  The Dert Equation.
Here it is:
                   D = R T        ('D' 'Equals' 'R' 'T' . Get it ?)

It means " DISTANCE = (RATE) (TIME) ".

The Distance you cover
                         is Equal to
                                 your Speed multiplied by the Time you travel.


If you drive at 50 miles per hour for 2 hours, how far do you go ?

    D = R T            D  = (50 mi/hr) x (2 hr)  =  100 miles

If you covered 150 miles in 3 hours, how fast were you driving ?

    D = R T          150 miles = (R) x (3 hours)

Divide each side by  1.5 hrs:   150 miles / 1.5 hrs  =  R =  50mi/hr

If the lake is 60 miles away, and Jim is driving at 40 miles per hour
the entire time, how long will it take her to get to the lake?

     D = R T       (60 mi) = (40mi/hr) x (Time)

Divide each side by 40 mi/hr:    60mi / (40 mi/hr) = Time = 1.5 hr

DERT gets you through all traveling situation, solves all problems,
and answers all questions.  Except maybe why Jim is a girl.

It would take him 1 hour and 30 minutes because if he is driving 20 miles per half hour so it would be 1 hour and 30 mins
