try to clear fractions by multplying by greatest common multiplue of 6,3, and 1 which happens to be 6
multiply both sides by 6
5y-(2 times 2y)-6y=-30
5y-4y-6y=-30
add like terms
-5y=-30
multiply -1
5y=30
divide both sides by 5
y=6
