Flu is passed around an accounts department. the clerk has 2 1/2 times the days off sick than the accountant. the accountant has 2/3 the time off than the book keeper. in total they all take 10 days sick days. how many sick days do they each take?

N=book keeper
2/3n=accountant
2 1/2(2/3n)=clerk
(2 1/2(2/3n)) + (2/3n) + n = 10
multiply 2 1/2 by 2/3 = 1 2/3
1 2/3n + 2/3n + n = 10
add your coeffients 1 2/3 + 2/3 + 1 = 3 1/3
3 1/3n = 10
divide 10 by 3 1/3 = n
2/3n = 2
2 1/2(2/3n) = 5
2 = accountant
3 = book keeper
5 = clerk
Now check 2 + 3 + 5 = 10
