You can go about it in two different ways.

9 3/10 + 7 2/10       * 1/5 = 2/10 *
= 16 5/10
= 16 1/2

or

93/10 + 37/5
93/10 + 72/10
= 165/10
=16 5/10
= 16 1/2

9 and 3/10 needs to be made into an improper fraction.
9x10=90+3=93.
93/10

7 and 1/5 needs to be made into an improper fraction, also.
7x5=35+1=36
36/5

Now, you need to make both numbers have common denominators.

93   x 2   186
10   x 2     20

36 x 4 144
5   x4   20 

Now, you add them!!
Don't forget to keep the denominators the same!


186    +    144       330

Now, reduce!
