Simplify 1/3(24x-9)+10 ?

First you have to distribute the 1/3. To do this, you can either multiply everything in the parentheses by 1/3 or you can divide it all by 3. I will use the division method, so 24x/3 is 8x and -9/3 is -3, so now the expression is 8x-3+10. You can add together the -3 and the 10 ,  and that is 7, so the answer is 8x+7.
ANSWER: 8x + 7
