The operations manager at a brewery that runs 24 hours per day wants to investigate the amount of production time lost each day (24-hour period) due to equipment failure. Historically, the population mean amount of lost time has been assumed to be 3.4 hours per day. The manager feels that due to aging equipment, the population mean is now greater than 3.4 hours per day. The manager decides to test his claim. Over the next 2 months, the sample of 30 days results in an average amount of lost time 3.92 hours per day with a sample standard deviation 1.4 hours. What would be the conclusions that we can draw for the test described above based on these sample results?
