If the GCF is factored out of both terms in the expression 24x + 36y, what is the equivalent expression? I’m just confused about factoring out the GCF

12(2x + 3y)

When you have two different variables, and you’re told to factor out the GCF, you can pretty much ignore the variables & focus on the numbers.

So this is kind of asking what is the GCF of 24 and 36.
