Task 4: Fuel Levy (Fuel Tax) Fuel levy is a tax payable by the licenced manufacturers of petroleum products
within South Africa. Petroleum products include petrol, diesel, kerosene, etc.
The minister of finance in his 2019 budget speech announced that fuel levies
will increase by 29 cents per litre for petrol and 30 cents per litre for diesel.
Mr Zulu consumes 75 litres of diesel per month on average and Mrs Zulu
consumes 58 litres of petrol per month on average.
The Petrol price excluding the fuel levy is R16.57/l.
The Diesel price excluding the fuel levy is R15.01/l.
4.1. Calculate the total fuel tax paid by this family per month.
4.2. Calculate the total average monthly expenditure on fuel.
