As the earth heats up, sea levels rise because warmer water takes up more room than cold water, a process known as thermal expansion. Melting glaciers compounds the problem by dumping more fresh water into the ocean. In 1993, NASA started measuring sea levels. Since then, the sea level has risen an average of 3.2 millimeters per year. A) set up a linear equation to model this phenomenon. According to this data, how much has the sea level risen since NASA started recording the data?

B) worldwide, approximately 100 million people live within three feet (94cm) of sea level. If the current trend continues, when will all of these people’s homes be flooded?
