1 The lattice method is an alternative written multiplication method that
has been around since the 1200s. It involves writing the numbers you
are multiplying on the outside of a grid or lattice and multiplying digits
to find partial products. These are then added together to find the total.
Samantha used the lattice to calculate 26 x 57 = 1482
What did Samantha do to get the 1 and 0 in the top-left quarter of the lattice?
What did Samantha do to get the 4 and 2 in the bottom-right quarter of the lattice?
What is the answer to the partial product equation of 20 x 7?
How is it represented on the lattice?
What was Samantha's next step after she had filled all the black numbers
inside the lattice?
