PART A: Sample A is not a random sample. In a random sample, all members of the population have an equal chance of being selected. Sample A has students from Rima’s classes, but no students from other classes. Students from the other two grades in the school won’t be represented.

PART B: Sample B is a random sample. Every student, or every member of the population, has a homeroom class. All of them have an equal chance of being selected in the sample.

PART C: Sample C is not a random sample because the sample excludes boys. The sample should include both girls and boys to represent the entire student population.

PART D:  Sample D is a random sample. All students in all grades are featured in the student directory, so all of them have an equal chance of being picked for the sample.

PART E: Sample E is not a random sample because it consists of only the students in the band and excludes all other students from the sample. Because not every student is in the band, this is not a fair representation of the entire student body.
