Determines how much smaller or larger the image resulting from the dilation will be:
~ Greater than 1 produces enlargement (larger) o --> O
~ Between 0 & 1 produces a reduction (smaller) P --> p
~ Equal to 1 produces a congruent image (the same) / --> /
