The amount that parents or guardians pay for daycare for an infant (6 weeks to 1 year) varies quite a bit, but the mean weekly rate is $325 with a standard deviation of $85. This distribution is distinctly non-normal. A sample survey asks an SRS of 60 parents or guardian that have infants how much they pay per week in daycare. Let x(bar) be the mean amount paid for daycare a week. (a) Explain why you can’t determine the probability of one randomly selected parent or guardian paying more than $350 a week.

(b) What is the mean of the sampling distribution of x(bar)?

(c) What is the standard deviation of the sampling distribution of x(bar)? Explain why you can calculate this value and interpret it in context.

(d) Determine the probability that the average fee paid per week by a parent or guardian for daycare is greater than $350.

(e) Based on your answer in part (d), would you be surprised if your sample mean is $350 or greater?
