Nike is having a sale on sweatpants. The regular price of sweatpants is $75. During the sale, all sweatpants are 25% off the regular price. If you are using a credit card to pay, you receive an extra 15%
off of the sale price. Maria wants to buy a pair of sweatpants from the store. In order to calculate her
final price, Maria added the two discounts and took 40% off of the original price.
Maria's math work:
(1 -0.40) x 75 = $45
Is Maria’s math work correct? If not, what is the final price of the sweatpants for someone who is
paying with a credit card?
