Where are electrons found in an atom, and what electrical charge and mass do they have?

Atoms contain NEGATIVELY charged electrons and positively charged protons. A proton is a positively charged particle located in the nucleus of an atom. Electrons are extremely small compared to all of the other parts of the atom. The mass of an electron is almost 1,000 times SMALLER (because electrons- negative charge) than the mass of a proton.
