Solve
-2(1 + 2x) = 2(2x + 3)

That will be x= -1.

Divide both sides by -2
-2(1+2x)=2(2x+3) to 1+2x=-(2x+3)

Then remove the parentheses
1+2x=-2x-3

Then move the variable 2x to the left where the one is.
2x+2x=-3 - 1

Then add both 2x + 2x to 4x
4x=-3 - 1

Subtract -3 -1 which is -4

Now divide both sides by 4
4x=-4 which equals -1

That was a lot but hopefully it made sense :)

Think of it as five or above give it a shove. change the 5 or above to the right to a zero and add one to the number on the left.
