Can someone please draw this out for me Step 1
Draw a line segment on your paper using a straightedge. Label the endpoints A and B.
Step 2
Draw a point not on line AB, and label that point R.
Step 3
Place the compass point on R, then set the width of the compass to be greater than the distance from R to the line. Then draw an arc that intersects line AB twice. Label the intersections P and Q.
Step 4
Keep the compass setting and place the point of the compass at point P and draw an arc that passes through point R and goes below line AB.
Step 5
Keep the compass setting and place the point of the compass at point Q and draw an arc that passes through point R and intersects the arc drawn in the previous step. This should construct a point below line AB. Label this point T.
Step 6
Using a straightedge, draw a line segment through the points R and T. This line, RT, should be perpendicular to AB and go through point R.
Step 7
Label the intersection of RT and AB as point V.
Check your work by using a protractor to verify that m∠RVA=90∘ and m∠RVB=90∘.
