A vending machine company sells its packaged foods in a variety of different machines. The company is considering three types of new vending machines. Management wants to know if the different machines affect sales. These vending machines are designated as J-1000, D-320, and UV-57. Management also wants to know if the position of the machines indoors or outdoors affects sales. Each of six similar locations was randomly assigned a machine and position combination. The data below are the number of purchases over four days. Position/Machine J-1000 D-320 UV-57
Inside 33, 40, 30, 31 29, 28, 33, 33 47, 39, 39, 45
Outside 43, 36, 41, 40 48, 45, 40, 44 37, 32, 36, 35
Click here for the Excel Data File Study the graph given here and choose the right option:
a-1. Is there an interaction effect? Yes, there appears to be an interaction. No interaction.
a-2. What is the interaction effect of machine and position?
b-1. Complete the ANOVA table. (Round your SS, MS, and P to 3 decimal places and F to 2 decimal places.)
b-2. Is there any difference in the mean sales by machine? (Round your answer to 3 decimal places.)
b-3. Is there any difference between sales inside and outside? (Round your answer to 3 decimal places.)
b-4. Is there any interaction between those two factors?
c-1. Find the inside and outside mean sales for each machine using t-test two sample, assuming equal variances. (Negative amounts should be indicated by a minus sign. Round your answers to 2 decimal places.)
c-2. What is the decision rule? Use the 0.05 significance level. (Round your answers to 3 decimal places. Negative amounts should be indicated by a minus sign.)
c-3. At the 0.05 level of significance, can we conclude that D-320 does better outside and the UV-57 does better inside?
