Determine the intervals on which the function is increasing, decreasing, and constant. A coordinate axis is drawn with a curve increasing from left to right. The curve curves up to cross the x axis at -1 and then the y axis at 1. Then, after 1 the curve curves downward with an overall increase towards infinity.
