A triangle has legs of 5cm and 6cm. How long is its hypotenuse? Round to the nearest tenth!

To solve this you use the pythagorean’s theorem which states that a^2 plus b^2 = c^2.
c being the hypotenuse
and a and b being the legs of the triangle
so in this example a is 5 and b is 6
so we ca. plug it in to the equation and we get : 5^2 plus 6^2 equals c^2
which further simplifies to 25 plus 36 = c^2
then add 25 and 36:
61 = c^2
then find the square root of both sides to get the variable (c) alone
square root of 61 = square root of c
which is 7.81 = c
that’s in decimal form
however since it’s says round to the tenth we can round the answer to get 7.8
therefore your final answer is 7.8
the hypotenuse is 7.8
