Algebra 1 Choice Board for At Home Learning
This choice board is to be used for April 6-17. Students will work through 4 activities on the choice board per week (8 total). Each topic has options for online and offline activities. Before getting started on the activities, you will need to join your math teacher’s Google Classroom. All submissions and communication will go through here. When joining the classroom and working with the online activities, students will need to be logged in to their Waco ISD google account. Students should attempt to do activities from a variety of topics.
Should you need help, check with your teacher regarding “office hours” or “tutorials.”
Linear Functions Systems & Inequalities Exponents & Radicals Polynomials & Factoring Quadratics
A1)
1) -2x + 3y = -12 2) 6y = 3x - 6
3) x - 2y = 4 4) -3x + 3y = 3
Put the 4 equations above in slope-intercept form and determine the following attributes of each: domain, range, y-intercept, x-intercept, and slope.
B1) Would you rather...pay for a membership at Jim’s Gym or Fred’s Fit Place? Which one is more budget friendly if you wanted a 12 month membership? How did you make your choice and why?
C1) For each problem, answer the following questions.
1) Is the problem solved correctly or incorrectly?
2) Explain the error
3) Give the corrected answer
D1) Rectangle A has a length of 3x - 2 and a width of x + 1. Rectangle B has a length of 5x + 3 and a width of 2x - 4.
1) Find the perimeter and area of each rectangle.
2) How much bigger is the perimeter of rectangle A than rectangle B?
E1) Solve for y. Identify a, b, c, and y-intercept. Find the axis of symmetry. Is there a max or min? Find the vertex.
A2)
Would you RatherJustify your answer
Climb a hill that has a slope of 4/5 OR Climb a hill that has a slope of 1/3?
B2)
1) Sketch 3 coordinate planes (6 x 6) 2) Use one graph to graph the lines of each problem (solve for y if needed) 3) Shade the solution area
4) Give 3 coordinates that are solutions. 5) Give 3 coordinates that are not solutions.
C2) Use your exponential laws to simplify each expression.
D2) Would you rather...justify your answer.
(4x3+6x2-3x) + (7x3-12x2-5x)
OR
(7x4-12x3+4x) - (3x4+8x3-12x)
E2)
1) Make a paper football and flick it through imaginary goal posts.
2) Measure how far and how high it went (inches).
3) Draw a graph showing the parabola the football made.
4) Explain what the x and y intercepts mean.
A3) Line Graphs Game
Write down the 10 equations while you work through the problems and then submit to teacher through the submission form.
B3) S ystems of Linear Equations
For each system of equations, you will:
1) Determine what type of lines (intersecting, parallel, same line)
2) Determine how many solutions (one, none, or infinite)
3) Write the solution (the coordinate solution, no solution, or infinite solutions)
C3) Radicals
1) Work through the problems and record your answers.
2) Submit the work and answers to your teacher through submission form in Google Classroom.
D3) Battleship Factoring
Students must destroy 5 ships, and take a picture of the five ships that were destroyed.
E3) Attributes to Quadratics
1) Work through problems and record your answers.
2) Submit to teacher through the submission form.
A4) Number Cruncher
1) Put in a number for the input. The machine will give an output and create a table.
2) Once you figure out the "rule" or equation process, check it.
3) Do 5 of these. Right down the table created and the "rule," then submit to your teacher on the submission form.
